 What should you wear?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve had many clients ask what is appropriate footwear to wear in the gym&#8211; \u00a0I&#8217;ve also had a majority of my clients that never ask at all, and don&#8217;t give much thought to it.<\/p>\n<p>At the end of the day, though, what should you wear? \u00a0The answer: \u00a0It varies.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cardiorespiratory Training &#8211; Running Shoes<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/devinephysiques.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/good_running_shoes.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-1164\" src=\"http:\/\/devinephysiques.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/good_running_shoes-300x192.jpg\" alt=\"Running Shoes\" width=\"300\" height=\"192\" srcset=\"https:\/\/devinephysiques.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/good_running_shoes-300x192.jpg 300w, https:\/\/devinephysiques.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/good_running_shoes.jpg 440w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This one is probably a bit obvious, but it&#8217;s worth mentioning. \u00a0Running shoes should be worn when performing cardio related activities, and could\u00a0also be considered when performing cardio related activities like plyometrics (&#8220;MetCon&#8221;). \u00a0Running shoes offer a lot in the way of support and shock absorption, but this makes them a less than stellar choice for weight lifting, as it&#8217;s not a stable base (in comparison to other shoes).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Plyometrics \/ MetCon &#8211; Training Shoes<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/devinephysiques.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/41cyMpYxGML._SL190_SY246_CR00190246_.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1163\" src=\"http:\/\/devinephysiques.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/41cyMpYxGML._SL190_SY246_CR00190246_.jpg\" alt=\"Crosstrainer Shoes\" width=\"190\" height=\"246\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Running and Training shoes vary in a variety of ways, but a lot of people view them as the same sort of shoe. \u00a0Running shoes tend to be a very lightweight material that is meant to bend and flex, while training shoes tend to be a bit heavier, composed of leather (or synthetic leather) that keeps shape better. \u00a0This is useful in MetCon because it helps keep your foot stable during the movements; especially lateral movements where the foot can shift around in the shoe. \u00a0Even though they&#8217;re more rigid than running shoes, they do offer a level of shock absorption and support that other styles of shoes may not offer. \u00a0If you&#8217;re only going to buy one shoe for all of your activities, this would be the one to go with, as it can serve many purposes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Olympic Weightlifting &#8211;
